Registration for Australia's premier tournament, the Australian Disc Golf Championships opens this Friday - 9 September.
Players can register online via the tournament website (www.ADGC.com.au).
Exciting times ahead
The tournament committee has been busy working behind the scenes for many months and exciting things are happening.
We know at least two 1000+ rated players are coming over to compete from
Finland - Jussi Meresmaa and Juho Rantalaiho from Team Discmania.
British disc golf legend and PDGA Hall of Famer Derek Robins has also
booked his flights from Heathrow to Hobart International Airport.
Jay and Des Reading from the Educational Disc Golf Experience program
(E.D.G.E) are coming over to Tassie. Jay and Des will be running
workshops with coaches and kids at schools around Poimena Reserve in the
period leading up to the tournament; and of course they'll be playing
the main event!
Des Reading is a 3x Womens World Champion and Jay is a putting World Champion - pretty cool.
Fundraiser Discs
There's some great ADGC fundraiser plastic coming on sale too. Innova is
releasing a prototype of a new driver for the Australian Champs - the
TeeDevil.
The TeeDevil pays homage to Tasmania's most famous furry friend, and
also endangered friend, the Tasmanian Devil. The tournament will be
making a donation to the Save the Tasmanian Devil Appeal and we
encourage players to support this good cause too.
There is also a very limited run of the ADGC Innova Star Roc, with a cool full colour design - for collectors and players.
Both these discs can be purchased through the online shop on the ADGC website from this Friday.
Discmania will also be announcing a limited edition ADGC fundraiser disc in the coming months also.
The Course
Work continues at Poimena Disc Golf Course, a few more of the 36 tee pads have been made flatter, wider, longer and grippier.
Sorry, but its famous sloping greens and fairways are just as cruel and round crippling as you remember them to be.
More trees have been planted and the course is looking better than ever.
We've also seen a significant increase in new players at the course in recent months which has been really encouraging.
Support from sponsors
The tournament is being supported by some great sponsors, which include
Innova, Discology, Mac Plus More, Discmania, Digital Ink and Mercure
Hotels.
Their support has been invaluable and we would really like to acknowledge them.
Join in with Facebook
If you're into Facebook, jump on the Australian Disc Golf Championships
page and become a fan - this will ensure the latest news from the
tournament gets pushed to your personal Facebook news feed.
Your Facebook involvement will also help spread the word about the tournament across the social network.
Register!
We hope there's going to be a lot of interest in this tournament, so we
encourage players to register early to avoid disappointment.
We look forward to seeing some of your names on the registered players list - remember it opens this FRIDAY!
See ya.

Its been a long time coming but its finally here. Where do you stand, are you in the upper echelons of Australian Disc Golfing prowess or are you fighting your way up and hungry for more points. Check out your standing in the ADGTour at our new live leaderboard: ADGTour Points Live Leaderboard If your name is missing there are events which have not had your points credited please let us know. Note that divisions listed on this site are those for which you are registered with ADG, not those which you may have played in during the tournaments. If you forgot to change your division at the start of the tour year please let us know as well. We will publish the formula used for computing tour points in a future iteration of the website. Apologies for the delay in getting this up and running however this new approach allows us to much more frequently add and update results after new events. It also gives you more ability to drill down into which events gave you which points and who got what points in what events. Your feedback is welcome, for now, check out your standing! |
