Affiliating your club with Australian Disc Golf (ADG) is the formal way to connect your club to the national peak body for disc golf in Australia. It opens the door to insurance coverage, grants, event sanctioning, and a range of other support. The process is straightforward. Here’s everything you need to know before you get in touch.
Who can affiliate?
Most disc golf groups are welcome to apply. Your club doesn’t need to be an incorporated association: informal groups and unincorporated clubs can affiliate too. What matters is that your primary purpose is to support disc golf somewhere in Australia, and that your club is recognised by the relevant state-based organisation or ADG state representative.
All affiliates must adhere to ADG’s policies, including our safeguarding obligations — more on that below. You can read the full Club Affiliation Policy before you apply.
What’s in it for your club?
Safeguarding expectations
ADG takes child safety seriously. All affiliated clubs must nominate a Child Safety Delegate who holds a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) valid for their state.
In practice, anyone in a position of authority over children including Tournament Directors, coaches, and volunteers needs a valid WWCC. If you think your club may struggle to meet this requirement, it’s worth resolving that before applying.
What you’ll need to provide
When you get in touch, please include the following details:
- Club name
- Geographic location
- Primary contact — name, email, and phone number
- Secondary contact — name, email, and phone number
- Club website or Facebook page
- Club logo (if you have one — we’ll display it on the ADG clubs page)
How the process works
Staying affiliated
Affiliation is renewed annually. To maintain your affiliation, your club must:
- Continue to meet the eligibility criteria
- Submit an annual activity report to your state representative by October each year
- Have a representative attend the ADG AGM, or send apologies if unable to attend
- Reaffiliate each year and update details as necessary
If your club is no longer able to meet these requirements, please let us know in writing so we can manage the process appropriately.
Sanctioning fees
There is no cost to affiliate. For sanctioned events, ADG charges a small per-player fee to cover insurance and ADG costs. Full details are available in Section 7 of the Tournament Directors Guide. Come-and-try days and similar introductory activities can be fee-free — just let your state rep know and make sure the event is advertised.
