Wonder Woman Katie Stafford has played her last MM for a while, as well as Hector Rivera Melo, both leaving Sydney for other adventures. It’s been marvellous to see their progress from virtually beginners to players of quite high calibre. I hope they’ll remember where they started when they win the Worlds… Good for others to actually see how fast and how much you can improve if you only play once a week for a few months. Hector has been pushing his scores down bit by bit and finished off with a round of 60, one under par. Katie pushed Uai Stack to bring out her best game, improving her own record with quite a few strokes – truly impressive ladies!

The average of your previous rounds at Macquarie is now the base for your handicap. If your average is 71, your handicap is 10 (over par), the number of strokes you deduct from your total. Example: Mr Dysck Gulphur, handicap 5, gets 65. He deducts 5 strokes and gets 60 to compare with the others’. Albert tried in vain to explain this prior to the round and a few claimed to understand. Either way, Alex Fuerbach made his disc golf debut the windy MM 004, getting a pretty high average score. Now it was a bit windy but not as severe as MM 004, and with a bit more experience and confidence he improved quite a lot and won with a huge margin. The downside is that the results lowered his average/handicap and he’ll have to lower his score even more next time to defend his victory. The honour might stay within the family though, since MM 005 was his wife Michaela’s first MM appearance…
